We never thought Saturday morning cartoons would make its way into our podcast conversation, but it did this week. We discuss the availability of child content from Dave’s childhood to today’s on-demand lifestyle. Also, we have a lengthy discussion on teenage texting while driving as compared to drunk driving and we both agree to a 30-Day Challenge - our cell phones will be off while behind the wheel for the next 30 days. Texting While Driving or Drunk Driving (http://techland.time.com/2013/05/14/study-more-teens-killed-texting-while-driving-than-by-drunk-driving/) - What kills more? In a very disheartening and eye-opening new study coming forth from New York’s Cohen Children’s Medical Center, teenage deaths and injuries related to texting while driving has now surpassed deaths and injuries related to drunk driving. An estimated 3,000 teenagers die and 300,000 teenagers are injured due to this simple act of texting while driving a vehicle. There are laws in place to deter and punish such action but are seemingly proving to be less than effective right now. What is the solution? A shift in cultural acceptance and behavior change. We can take a step in the right direction with one simple change. Join the Waves of Tech crew as we accept the 30-Day Challenge - our cell phones will be off while behind the wheel.
